Environmental Scans
Every year, each of the 11 Industry Skills Councils prepare an Environmental Scan of their respective industries. Based on real-time industry views and evidence from across Australia, the Scans operate as ‘early warning systems’ and give readers a clear understanding of the factors currently shaping and impacting on workforce development and how well the products and services of Australia’s tertiary system are responding.
The Scans are not about reproducing already published statistics and data found elsewhere, which by their very nature are typically historical. Rather, they draw on contemporary advice from industry, capitalising on the year-round grass roots conversations ISCs have with people doing the job and managing the organisations, and who experience firsthand the issues needing to be written about.
Environmental Scans are a formative and critical component of the Training Package development and endorsement model established in 2008 (below).
